Happy Halloween - October in Review

HI Everyone

Long time no post..............October has been crazy busy with so many wonderful times for the Makro Family. October officially kicks off the holiday season. We've eaten our share of pumpkin things, shopped for costumes, carved pumpkins, eaten plenty of candy and had a really good time!

Highlights
Ana went to American Girl Store with Daddy. Ana is 5 1/2 years old and for the last year she has been working really hard at quitting her thumb sucking!!! Well, she did it!!!! And her reward.....a day out with Daddy and her first American Girl Doll.

Theo went to a Formula One Car Race in Fontana, CA with Daddy. He hung out in the pit with both cars & drivers. He watched most of the race, saw lots of exciting speedy cars and big car crashes! Overall, this Ferrari lover had the best time!

Niko went with Daddy to his first ever professional soccer game.......Mexico vs. Finland. He had a great time, loved watching the game and all the action (goals, free kicks, etc).

And most importantly, as a family we celebrated the whole month of October the arrival of Halloween. We visited the famous Bates Nut Farm pumpkin patch. We picked out small pumpkins and hand selected our "family pumpkin" that weighed in at 77 pounds!!!! Kids played in the hay maze and rode on a tractor train!!! What fun! We decorated the outside of the house. The kids this year were in charge of the webs.....and they put it everywhere!

We picked out our costumes and enjoyed the whole day. At school, the kids had a Halloween Red Carpet parade today and took class pictures. We then went to a friends that put together the most amazing kid friendly scary haunted house and the kids had a blast. We ended the night trick or treating with our neighborhood friends and had a fun and sugar filled night!!!! Tonight the Great Pumpkin will come and leave the kids Movie Tickets in exchange for almost all their candy!!!!

Hi Everyone As a continuation from last year, this year each week I will try and make a Greek recipe here with the Greek ingredients that I can find here, that are usually a little harder to find in the states!!! Riva Beach Club & Bar

As our days are counting down, I am going to share with you the reason we come to this lovely place..............crystal clear blue warm waters and an atmosphere of relaxation and calm. Many people ask me about all the political and economically disruptions and difficulties in Greece, and yes all that does exist, however in our small little oasis called Kavala we are in our own little bubble of wonderfulness!!!!!!!!!!!! Riva Beach Club and Bar Here is a list of the main reasons we love this beach Crystal clear waters that are shallow Small kids play swimming pool Best wooden platforms and lounge beds in Kavala This beach is in a beach area called Ammolofoi. It is a stretch of wonderful, crystal blue water, shallow beaches about 30 minutes from Kavala. We head to this area about 4 days per week and frequent the many beach clubs in this area. Here is Niko!!

Hi Everyone Niko is having a great time here. He has probably taken the longest to adjust as he is very settled in his life in San Diego with his school and classmates! But he has adjusted and is having a great time. Although he does ask a lot about his friends: what they are doing, where they are going for the summer, and if any are close by to him in Greece (Jonas in Norway is the closest and that makes him happy). Niko is a lover of the sea and the ruins of Greece. He is a sponge for anything historic and is constantly on the look out for ruins as we drive anywhere. The loves the sea, swims everywhere, snorkels and loves to eat everything that comes out of the sea. His favorite is the full size, grilled squid!!! He even asked Papou for it on his own......"remember Papou last time (2 years ago) I ate squid, but the whole thing, that is what I want".......and he got it!!!
