Best smile for last......................Theo!

 
And then there's Theo...........He has the absolute best best smile and we've seen it quite a bit while here in Greece. He is our question asker, our fruit & vegetable shopper, our diver and our fish eater!!! He loves Greece and the lifestyle of laying in the sand and eating fish for lunch!!! According to him, eating is one of his favorite things to do and he's doing quite a bit of it while here in Greece. Although I have to say all he eats is Omega rich fish by the plate full and fruit (average 3-5 pieces per day) - this Mama can't complain!  He is also my best afternoon nap guy......after a morning worth of swimming and a plate full of sardines, he's ready for a nap!!!! Is he Greek or what!!
 
Theo's Favorite Greek Things
1. Eating FISH FISH FISH
2. Swimming
3. Diving for rocks (marble ones specifically)
4. Playing paddle ball with mom
5. Hitting paddle ball into the water as far as he can and swimming out to get ball

7. Shopping at the Laiki (Farmer's Market on Saturdays mornings, all the old Greek ladies love him with his little fruit cart and his "I know what I'm doing here" kind of attitude.)

11. Playing games and riding toys on waterfront port of Kavala

Yes, he eats the whole fish (head to tail, bones and all - Greek style!)
They are tiny little fish so eating them whole is fine (bones are not even noticeable)
He eats an entire plate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And likes to show off also!

Mommy and Theo - together forever!!! He loves his Mama and I love him!! We have so much fun at the beach, swimming and playing paddle ball.....we are up to 4 hits !!!! (huge accomplishment) He also loves to swim way out with Mama and look for big fish and big rocks!!! What a joy to see a child smile and Theo's smile is beautiful and priceless!!!!

PS.....my sister Laura has been enjoying Kavala with us for a little over a week. She leaves us tomorrow (boo hoo). She has had a great time! She has definitely gotten a small taste of ALL of Kavala (figuratively and literally.....especially because of the generous nature of my in-laws Meme and Papou who have shown her Kavala and have taken her everywhere!!!

Hi Everyone As a continuation from last year, this year each week I will try and make a Greek recipe here with the Greek ingredients that I can find here, that are usually a little harder to find in the states!!! As our days are counting down, I am going to share with you the reason we come to this lovely place..............crystal clear blue warm waters and an atmosphere of relaxation and calm. Many people ask me about all the political and economically disruptions and difficulties in Greece, and yes all that does exist, however in our small little oasis called Kavala we are in our own little bubble of wonderfulness!!!!!!!!!!!! Here is Niko!!

Hi Everyone Niko is having a great time here. He has probably taken the longest to adjust as he is very settled in his life in San Diego with his school and classmates! But he has adjusted and is having a great time. Although he does ask a lot about his friends: what they are doing, where they are going for the summer, and if any are close by to him in Greece (Jonas in Norway is the closest and that makes him happy). Niko is a lover of the sea and the ruins of Greece. He is a sponge for anything historic and is constantly on the look out for ruins as we drive anywhere. The loves the sea, swims everywhere, snorkels and loves to eat everything that comes out of the sea. His favorite is the full size, grilled squid!!! He even asked Papou for it on his own......"remember Papou last time (2 years ago) I ate squid, but the whole thing, that is what I want".......and he got it!!!
