Coffee and Bread alone!

Image
In Greece I could survive off bread and coffee alone. As some of you know, about 6 weeks ago I did a juice cleanse primarily to give my body a healthy break & start to summer. I also did it to detox from caffeine because I had a serious coffee habit.....sometimes 3-4 cups a day. I love myself a good coffee but coffee+coconut milk just doesn't cut it for me. So basically I was consuming all that caffeine out of habit alone, not for the taste. So I decided to detox and it was painful! But I made it through and I have not had coffee in 6 weeks. I also decided that I do LOVE coffee, but good coffee with the real milk and the real sugar. So coffee for me now is a TREAT. I enjoyed a cup of this lovely heaven at my friend Rosanna's house the last day of school - TREAT! And I had my first Greek Frappe yesterday at our friend Dora's Cafe in Saint Nicholas Square - TREAT! Let me tell you about the Greek Frappe. It is a coffee delight I tell you!! The yummiest, most refreshi

This mama is so proud of her children! I have to say I am pretty impressed with them because they will eat most things served to them, or at the very least try them. It's really pretty cool by US standards. When you compare my children to how children eat here in Greece or Europe for that matter, they are eating normally, they are eating what is expected of them, what is served to them! But I still feel pretty proud!   When I came to Greece 2 years ago I brought with me, no joke, probably about 1 suitcase full of food just for the kids: snack bars, gold fish, other snack packs, mac n cheese boxes, gummy packages, etc etc etc. Yes I was crazy but I had no idea how my then 3 and 5 year olds were going to adapt to the difference in food.....well surprisingly enough they barely ate the things I purchased and my children never asked for those junky snacks. They ate whole, real foods, fresh from the Laiki (farmer's market), Bakery shop, meat shop, cheese shop, etc.    For th

I wasn't going to blog tonight because I am tired and tomorrow I officially start homeschooling all three children for the 9 weeks. But I'm ready!! But I had to share my experience today and maybe share a laugh with you all tonight!!! Enjoy on my behalf!!! House Rules, Good/Bad Behavior Points, and Home Schooling Reward Chart We are ready for tomorrow!!!! Today we were all a little exhausted, kids all woke up a little angry this morning. So we decided no beach today and we would do a few errands. I am setting this story scenario up this way to say today was like any other day, imagine yourself at home with nothing going on except a few errands and home time!! In the morning we visited the new grocery store.....I like very much, and I even purchased a super yummy rotisserie chicken.  Then we walked to into town (which means down the hill) to the fruit/vegetable stand and Theo bought to his heart's content. In case you didn't know, Theo is my Fruit King all the t

The Trip & Big Arrival

Hi Everyone and Welcome to Kavala.......................we are so happy to be here. The flight was excruciatingly long and painful. These kids of mine are awesome and strong. We took off from LAX at 9pm on Monday evening. Kids and myself were very sad to leave Daddy behind. We were all crying. But once we got to gate, and kids got a sweet snack from their snack bag, all was well again. The adventure begins!! We boarded the flight and they all decided to sit together and I got to sit by myself....yipppee except for the flight was only 5 hours and it wasn't enough time for anyone to sleep for any good length of time. Trying to wake up 3 kids in the middle of the night because we were arriving in Toronto was brutal. Arriving in Toronto at 5:30am was tough for everyone. I was hurting but we made the best of our morning by having breakfast at my favorite restaurant in Toronto called Marche's.....we got there went it opened and had crepes with nutella and omelets and muffins.

3 days and counting..................oh my goodness. I'm a mix of nerves, anxiety, excitement, disbelief, and confusion. But as much as I'm stressing right now, I remember our trip 2 years ago when the twins were only 3 years old and our oldest was only 5. They have grown so much in two years and I can only imagine how much fun we will have once we get settled!!! Here is a snapshot of our trip 2 years ago. I have over 3000 pictures from our last trip, so I literally picked a handful to give you a flavor of my excitement and the reason why the kids are literally waiting to leave!!! Enjoy! ps.....it was amazing day at school as our Niko graduated from 1st grade and moved into the 2nd grade pew, and our twins Ana and Theo were welcomed into the Kindergarten pew. I was a mix of happy emotion for all that my three children have learned and accomplished, and a bit of nostalgic sadness as once placed in the Kindergarten pew Phil and I were alone in the pew, all our children in their
